A reader of mine asked me the other day how I set up my Pop Up form on my blog, and how I created my newsletter. To answer Johnathan’s question from masterofseo, I have written this article to help anyone else who might need help with this.

How To Set Up A Newsletter?

The first thing that I have to say is that, even if you don’t have any plans on making a newsletter for your blog, I highly encourage you to get one. By getting a newsletter traffic will increase to your blog and so will your subscription list. These two things are vital to any blogger who wants to make money blogging. However, this article is just going to go about setting one up, so that is what I am going to write about.

First things first, you will need to find someone to set up your newsletter for you. There are a number of services that do this for you, but one that I can recommend to everyone is Aweber. Aweber is what I use to handle all of my newsletter needs, and as you will soon see, makes my life much more easier. Aweber service currently costs about $20 per month. Although this service costs money, it really makes up for it.

How to Set Up Your Pop Up Form

Now here is what you came for, how to set up your pop-up form. As I said before, I use Aweber to set up my lightbox form that pops up on my blog. To probably everyones suprise, this is so easy it is almost scary. I couldn’t beleive how easy it was to set up my pop-up form and get things live. I think it took me a total of…10minutes.

1. The first thing you will want to do is login to your Aweber account.

2. Once you are logged in you should select your list name you want to create your pop up form from. I use my blogs list so that anyone who signs up under this pop up form will be added to my blogs list. I recommend you do the same thing. Just be sure you got the right list selected.

3. Once you have made sure you selected the correct list, you will want to now go to the tab that says “List Settings” and click on ” Web Form.”

4. You will then need to scroll down and select create new list

5. You will now be taken to the fill out form for your new pop up ad. Make sure that you select the option “LightBox Hover.” This is the option that will make your form pop up and have the background fade.

When you select the lightbox pop up form, you will need to select the width and height. Try to keep it fairly small. As long as it doesn’t take up a big chunk of you page you should be good. Just keep the background colour white and try to select a range of 5-10 seconds. If you have it too soon it might annoy your readers and if you have it too late your visitors might leave your website before the form even pops up.

6. Now you will be taken to design your pop up form. It is pretty straight forward and even I could figure this out. If you need some suggestions on how to design your form, use mine as an example.

7. Once you click “save” you are done designing your Pop up form. All all you have to do is insert your piece of code on your website and you are good to go. I put mine in the footer of my blog just before the </body> tag.

Now once you website loads your pop up will load at the designated time. As you can see, this is a lot more easier then one might think. In fact I’m pretty sure everyone can do this. This is why I highly recommend Aweber for all your newsletter needs.

I hope this tutorial helped you guys and Johnathan as well. Good luck everyone. As usual, if you have any questions ask away. I’d love to help you out.

A lot of SEO experts talk about how much you should optimize your blog before you write your posts and get your content rolling. The problem is that sometimes we don’t always know this from the get go. We often will make a few posts and then realize that we should have started SEO before. Sometimes it is too late, but today I am going to try to go over some methods of optimizing older posts for SEO.

What Kind Of Posts Should You Focus On?

The first thing you should realize is that you should try not to focus too much on your older posts. If you have some free time and need something to do, then optimizing some of your older posts is something you can do. Try to only focus on posts that have ether:

A: Gotten you a lot of SEO traffic in the past OR
B: The post has gotten a good positive feedback and is more popular than your average post.

These too factors will sometimes go hand in hand but this is not always the case. However, because of the fact that the two go hand in hand, the potential with these kind of posts is so much more. A popular post is going to get you more traffic and links, which in return will make a page more popular. A post that is already getting SEO traffic, but is not fully optimized will certainly get more traffic if you optimize it.

This is why you should focus on your blogs more popular posts. These ones are going to get you more traffic then posts that haven’t done so well in the past.

How Do I Optimize My Older Posts?

The following tips and tricks I am going to give to you are tested by myself. Since redoing all my posts, my SEO traffic has went up 200%, and this is no joke. Before I would just throw a few tags together and hope for the best. My SEO traffic has increased dramatically since I took these tips into action. If you haven’t optimized your older posts for SEO, now would be a good time to do so.

1. Finding out the keyword density of your posts

The first thing I recommend you to do is get a keyword counter for your posts. You will want to find out how many keywords you have on your posts and the frequency at which they appear. Here is a link to a keyword counter here. All you do is simply enter the url of your post and it will give you a list of keywords.

Now you need to figure out what keywords you will choose. The keywords that appear the most are the ones you will want to focus on, because of the fact that these are older posts you will not be re writing them. You are going to have to work with what you wrote before.

I recommend taking the top 5 keywords that appear the most and putting those in your All In One SEO Pack.

2. Title Tags

Title tags are very important because these are going to weigh out the most factor in your SEO efforts. Title tags should be chosen around what your post is about. If your going to have a post about Stumble Upon, then putting Stumble Upon in your title tag is a wise idea.

Title tags should be in the title and repeated frequently in your posts. If you want, you can switch your title tags around to see if they get you better results. For doing so, I recommend the All In One SEO plugin. This will make your SEO life a lot easier.

3. Link Frequency

It is not entirely known of how many links you should put in your posts if you want to rank well for a certain topic. If you are going to write a review about a certain product, then linking to it multiple times on the same page can get you better results. Don’t go overboard, but I have noticed that linking to it say 5-8 times will rank you higher in the search engines for that keyword.

4. Picking Out Your Keywords

You will want to pick out keywords that are in your title tags. When picking your keywords look at the frequency of which they show up in your posts. For example, if you wrote a post about SEO and it showed up 8 times in the text, you will want to focus on this keyword then.

These are just a few ways that you can spice up your older posts for SEO benefits. I have noticed that since I fixed up my older posts, they have done better in the search engines.

There a millions of factors that can effect SEO and I don’t know very much about this topic, but by following these simple steps, I’m sure you can boost your results as well.

Hey everyone, I hope all is going well today. I don’t know if everyone has noticed or not, but earlier this week I set up a pop-up form on this blog. In fact, if you have spent more than 10 seconds on this blog you should know what I am talking about.

I got the idea to put this form on my blog from Problogger. Darren stated that by using this tactic on his photography blog he has increased his reader subscription rate by ten times the rate it was before.

Let’s take a closer look at what this form is and what it does.

LightBox Form

The particular form that I have implemented on IronBlogger is the lightbox form. I currently use Aweber to host and create all my newsletters, I highly recommend them for any internet marketing service you might need.

This form is designed to pop up in a white window after a user has been on your page for a designated amount of time. I have set the timer for ten seconds.

Once the form pops up a user is presented with the choice of ether subscribing to your newsletter or to simply close the window by clicking the little tiny “X” in the corner.

This form only pops up the first time someone visits your blog and will never be shown to the same person twice.

That is the basic function of the whitebox sign-up form.

Why Have I Chosen To Use This Form?

I have chosen to use this form for a few reasons…

1. Experimentation

My first reason is to simply use it as an experiment. I am going to see how many subscribers I can get with this new lightbox form.

I will also be putting this form on my other blogs as well. I will have full details for you later after I can collect some information first.

2. Gaining More RSS Readers

My second reason is because I am trying my hardest to gain as many RSS subscribers possible this month. Blogging Idol is almost halfway done and want to take home a prize. Help me win by signing up to my RSS feed.

I deeply apologize if this upsets anyone but this is mostly just for experimentation purposes. You will only see this form once, so that seems like a pretty good trade in exchange for my free blogging tips. I just ask all my readers to cooperate. If someone is seriously upset about this, contact me and we will discuss it more.

So my question for you today is, “What do you think of this new lightbox form?” Do you think it will get me more subscribers? Do you think I will lose subscribers?

Yup, that’s right! I am going to be giving a free WordPress Theme away.

As I have said before, I was trying to organize something for everyone, and I figured what would be better than giving away a free Premium WordPress Theme? Everyone loves WordPress Themes right, and everyone love something that is free. Why not a free WordPress Theme?

Color WordPress Theme

The theme that I will be giving away to one of my lucky readers is the Color WordPress theme. This is a theme that is brand new on the market. In fact, I just received the theme yesterday from Salwa. Oh and by the way, Salwa is one who is sponsoring this contest, so you can thank her for this little competition. Without her, nobody here would be receiving a free WordPress Theme this month. This theme is worth $200 so it is of a good value.

If you would like to see a live demo of the theme, you can do so here. I love all the colours, don’t you? It is also noteworthy that this particular theme was written in only 2 days. It only took Salwa two days to design this theme. She works very fast.

The rules for this competition:

The rules for this free wordpress giveaway is fairly simple. There is only one simple requirement here. All you have to do is sign-up to my newsletter which by the way I just released. All you have to do is submit your name and email address in the form at the bottom of this post. Once you are done that, you have reached the only requirement. After you have confirmed that you want to subscribe to my free newsletter you will be entered into the draw.

At the end of the month I will randomly pick one email for all the emails that are subscribed to my newsletter on November 30th. On December 1st I will write a post declaring the winner, so be sure to check back then.

All you have to basically do is sign-up to my newsletter. Just so you know, my current count is not too high as my newsletter has just been released, so your chances of getting picked are very high.

If you like this theme and are interested in checking out more of Salwa’s work, she has a portfolio that you can check out. She also has a blog that is about making money online as well.

Everybody say thanks to Salwa for donating this free theme!

Best of luck to all!

A few days ago one of my readers made a very interesting post on his blog.

Melvin made a post that was entitled “Why Teens Should Try Making Money By Now.” Melvin is the owner of Melvinblog which is a blog about making money online and various other subjects.

In this post Melvin has talked about his personal experiences with making money online as a teenager. He shares with us why people question him and don’t understand why he blogs. He has also posted a list of spectacular reasons as to why he does this. You should definitely check it out!

I found this post very interesting because I am also a teenager trying to make money blogging. I can relate to this post that Melvin made. I am only 17 years old believe it or not . Internet marketing and blogging is still very new to me, but in just this short period of time I have learned more then some have in their lifetime. All this knowledge I share with my readers and I am still learning as I go. You can never know too much when to comes to pretty much anything…there is always something out there to learn.

The thing I love most about blogging and internet marketing is that everyone can do it. Most 17 year olds do not own their own business. I am 17 and I do own my own business and that business is my blog. I think that if teenagers had the knowledge to know that they could do this, more teenagers would be getting involved in this time of thing.

As I am still a teenager, I want to know how many other teenagers out their own a blog. I want to see just how old my readership base is and where you guys come from as to compared to myself.

If you are a reader of my blog, then I ask you this question…

How old are you and what are your thoughts and opinion on teenagers making money online?
