Internet and ISP Problems

Aug 14th, ‘08

Internet and ISP ProblemsHey everyone it’s been almost a week since I last updated my blog. The reason being for this little delay is because of internet problems I have been having for the past little while.

While I was going over my usual schedule on a Saturday night, I happened to come across a few interesting blogs that I was going to get into contact with. It was somewhere around 2 AM though at this time, so I figured I would just do it the next day. Well, the next day I go to do just that and nothing wants to load.

Now from where I am currently living, internet problems and the like are very common. I didn’t really think much of it at first. I just continued on with my day and decided I’d check back later that night to see if all was fixed.

I ended up checking it the next day, and it was STILL not working. I was starting to get a little annoyed at this point. I decided to call up a few people I knew and ask them if they were experiencing the same problems as me. It Turns out the internet was just fine except for mine.

At this point I finally decided to give Bell a shout. After 4 hours of recorded voice messages and contact information, I finally got onto the phone with somebody. At first we tried the usual connection problems and making sure that everything was hooked up. Mind you, I checked this about a thousand times before I called…

Then about halfway through the call, it suddenly starts to work again. This is great news, but the problem is neither of us could find out what was wrong with my internet. Basically after 4 and a half days, my internet just finally decided that it would start working again.

Ughhh, what a headache. I pay for high speed at a pretty decent price as it is still not that common around where I come from. This annoys the hell out of me. If I wasn’t paying so much for it, it wouldn’t bother me that much as you can only get what you pay for. However, here it is very expensive for high speed internet.

In Japan an internet connection can almost be bought at the cost of nothing, because there are so many providers that offer it. In order for anyone to compete, they would have to lower their prices quite a bit. Up here in Canada though, there are not as many providers. As a result prices are increased quite a bit. It’s a crappy deal, but it’s slowly getting better. Come to think of it, a year before now, all we had was dial-up.

Well, that’s all I got for you today, how crappy my internet is. Since I have gotten it back, it has been a little laggy and I’m going about fixing that. I don’t want to fiddle around with it too much though. As the old saying goes ” If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.”

What do you guys think of this internet crap? Have any similar stories to share?

  8. Well, before I had ISP problems too. One week of no internet… an hour seemed like a day to me! I wasn’t able to update my content sites; I ended up selling them earlier than expected. Ah well, things like this really happen and we just have to accept that fact. :)

I know one guy who kept all his files on his web server and when he lost his internet connection for 3 days, his life was like a living hell because his important documents were stored online.

  14. Melvin gave a good tip. Making future posts will help when you’re not in touch with your blog.

Here in Chennai, India, I have a high speed broadband connection. Because, no one else in this area has broadband, I usually surf at top speed. But many times, the internet just doesn’t connect.

The last time it happened, I had no internet for 10 days! I was really feeling like a fish out of water. :(
