One thing that can make a blog become popular is Social Networking. Social Networking is a source of untapped power, that most bloggers don’t take advantage of. As a matter of fact, I myself have yet to really get into Social Networking.
I got this idea from reading a blog post by Ben. In this post Ben lists all the major popular Social Networks. I have an idea on how I can really start to build a network and my brand. I have a deal for all my readers out there today as well.
I am going to list all of IronBloggers profiles for most of the major Social Networking programs. What I need you to do is add me as a friend, and in return I will do the same. Think of it like this, your getting free followers and power when you do this. By doing this we can all benefit from a little healthy Social Networking.
So, here is a list of some social Networks:
- Twitter - Twitter is starting to become very popular amongst bloggers. Many of them are saying that Twitter is an excellent way to get traffic and visitors to your blog. I have yet to really see the results from this, but my profile at the moment is pretty weak. I’m hoping to build it and see what the potential of this network is.
- Stumble Upon - Stumble Upon is currently one of my favorite networks out there. It can really hit your blog hard if used correctly. If you are new to this program I highly recommend you check out Stumble Rush. This program is perfect for starting out and building a successful brand with Stumble Upon traffic.
- Technorati - Technorati is the web leader on blog indexing. Technorati basically crawls your blog and searches for interesting posts and content. The more links and traffic your blog gets, the higher the ranking you will have. Building friends on this network is very important as many advertisers value the ranking on a blog on Technorati.
- Blog Engage - This little network is still fairly new, but I think it has the potential to really kick off. It is very similar to Digg but is more focused on blogging. If your a blogger you have to check it out! I also wrote a review on Blog Engage.
- Plurk - I am not very familiar with this network, but it is very similar to Twitter. Again, the potential is very high for this network and it is starting to make a name for itself. Sign up now and get on it ASAP.
- Digg - Digg was one of the first Social Networks that became really big, and to this day remains so. The benefits of getting your article featured on the front page is huge, but the competition and effort it takes to get there can be difficult.
That’s just a few networks for now. It’s best to keep it simple and easy at first. There are millions of Social Networks out there, but you have to know which ones to use and which ones not too. Although I’m sure every single one will be able to benefit you in some way or another, some will be a wiser choice then others.
With so many Social Networks, it can sometimes become a pain to organize yourself and keep track of them all. If you are going to try and do this all in your head, then you can forget about it. You will just not be able to remember them all. I suggest that you bookmark your profiles on all of your networks and save those links into a folder called ” Social Networks ” or something. At least this way you can keep them all organized in one place.
If you add me in all of these networks, I will kindly do the same. This way we can build up a network and everyone can benefit from this.
Thanks a lot everyone, and I hope this helps you out.

StumbleUpon has been the most useful for me up till now, twitter is fun, but I don’t think I will ever reach the point where it brings me traffic.

Thanks for the kind words about blog engage Robin! I know it’s hard to get traffic to our blogs… trust me I know seeing I have 4 blogs! I started blogengage hoping someday it would not only benefit myself but others as well.
The other sites you mentioned are pretty decent as well. I’m like you when it comes to tweeter… I seen little or no results but again my profile is extremely weak. I think I have 30 followers or something! I guess it’s pretty good seeing I signed up and only went back twice!
I’m a member at digg but I use it mainly for digging articles that are good and submitted to blog engage
I have seen HUGE number with Stumble Upon when I first started using it but since then it had dramatically drop and to be frank I never used plurk yet!
Nice. I have my profiles listed in 3 places (or only 2) I believe. It gives my readers a chance to connect with me.
I haven’t been very much active with those social sites. I stumble interesting articles occasionally for bookmarking purpose only.
